About Arie Genger
Aventura, Florida is today home to the Israeli-born businessman Arie Genger.
Background Genger was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, on July 1945. After completing his military service in Israel, Genger relocated to the United States where he studied Economics and Business Administration at City University, New York. He graduated with honors and was awarded The Morton Wollman Medal for outstanding achievement. After completing his BA, Genger continued his MBA studies at the same University. Business Career Arie Genger started his business career in 1973 with Rapid-American Corp., a conglomerate that owned among others McCrory Corporation a retail holding company. Genger’s first position in Rapid American Corp was as an assistant to the Chairman of the Board. Soon after he joined Rapid-American Corp. the company ran into financial difficulties. As a result of the successful re organizing of the company which Genger played a major role in, he was promoted to President of McCrory Corporation, becoming the youngest president of a multi-billion company in the USA. During his years with McCrory, Arie Genger took the company from losses of $75 million to a profit of $35 million. In 1985 Genger founded Trans-Resources Inc. (TRI), a chemical and fertilizer company that is today the parent company of three independently operated companies. Haifa Chemicals Ltd. (HCL) in Israel which is TRI’s largest subsidiary and the second largest producer in the world of Potassium Nitrate (a specialty plant nutrient). The other subsidiaries are NaChurs in the US, producing liquid starter fertilizer, and the Canadian Plant Products Company serving the horticulture industry. By 2008 TRI had annual sales of a billion dollars and $150 million of net income. Recently, Genger has been involved in litigation with the Trump brothers Eddie and Jules relating to the control of TRI. This litigation includes a contempt charge ,brought by the Trump’s, regarding the wiping of the unallocated space of the hard drive containing fragments of Israeli national security documents. This charge has opened a debate around the practical implications of the standard preservation order of books and records. In the mid 1990s Genger was co-founder of Conservation Securities, a fund of funds targeting investments in a variety of hedge funds. Until its dissolution in 2008, Conservation Securities has generated yearly returns of over 15 % annually. Recently Genger joined other investors as a cede investor in a real estate fund managing and operating apartments in the New York area, The Israel Connection In 1983 after Genger returned to the US from his government service in Israel he founded First American Israel Technology (FAIT) fund, with the aim of initiating and encouraging American private sector participation in joint Israeli-American investments. This, in fact, led to Genger’s involvement in Haifa Chemicals Ltd. A possibly better known link between Israel and Genger is due to his close personal friendship with former prime minister Ariel Sharon, to whom Genger served as personal advisor and confidante for a period of over 30 years. Within this framework, Genger was responsible for the personal private channel between the Prime Minister and the US White House.
